2 Looks Featuring My Favorite Fall Colors Burgundy & Blue

Last week, I wrote a post on how to transition your wardrobe from summer to fall with important guidance on how to mix your summer pieces into your fall pieces, incorporating fall colors, and how to layer it up while keeping it fresh and saving some money. If you haven’t read that piece, definitely give it a look!

What are your favorite fall colors?

I wanted to see what you folks had to say about your favorite fall colors. Here are a few of the answers y’all provided and I have to say, some of them really had me cracking up!

  • Burgundy & Forest Green ( okay, okay, I see where you’re going with this one!)

  • Black…and more Black (oh, okay!)

  • Black, mixed with black and a little black ( damn, y’all love black!)

  • Black on black on black on caramel (okay, black on black with some add-ons at least…)

  • Burgundy, brown, and gold (separately or together?)

  • Greens and Oranges ( I can’t get the thought of pumpkins out of my head — I don’t think I ever tried this combo…)

I was less shocked by burgundy, brown, and forest green as your favorite fall colors, but damnnn, y’all really love black and I didn’t expect that! To be honest, I’ve never incorporated a lot of black into my fall wardrobe so you’ve definitely given me a lot to think about. It was nice to get to know you a little better, ‘cause today, I’m writing all about my favorite fall colors—burgundy & navy blue! Actually, who am I kidding…these colors are probably my favorite of all time! I’ve always been attracted to the colors burgundy and navy blue, especially when they come together. I’ve always found them to be versatile, soothing to look at, and they bring about a sophisticated energy to any outfit— making these colors, “oh so dapper”. In true fashion, I pulled together a couple outfits to show you how I get down and where I find my pieces.

Look #1

For my first look, I put together a v-neck merino sweater from Uniqlo, a solid button down from Topman, and some floral slacks from Topman. For one version of this look, I layered the sweater over the button down. I would typically wear this version as it gets a little colder or for work where I’d keep it professional. For a more grown and sexy look, I’d loosen it up a bit, show some skin, and lose the button down. A lot of folks wouldn’t wear floral print during the fall but I like to break the rules every now and then. I feel like the burgundy, greens, and blacks in these slacks  are muted enough for the fall, while still bringing in an aspect of the spring/summer months that I’ll really miss. I dig it!

Look #2

Look two features a striped button down from H&M and some striped slacks that I found this summer from Topman. In fact, I’d like to give a special shout out to my local Topman clearance section where a lot my pieces came from for this post! Y’all be holding it down, for real! This outfit makes me feel so fine and refined and solidifies why I love these two colors together. I love stripes! I feel like they add an element of fun to this shirt that you just can’t get with solids. I also tend to accessorize my navy blue and burgundy pieces with gold watches or jewelry to add some flair. I can wear this look for a myriad of reasons including, meetings, work, drinks, or even rooftop parties. I also love this look because I can wear it well into the winter which will save me money in the long run— and y’all know how much I like to do that!

I’d love to know what you think about these two looks! Leave some love in the comment section and see you next week!
